Today's gumtree ads - 3 Patrol's
Hey Chaps
I've been off the radar for a while!
Back with a bang.
Just saw 3 new Troll ads on Gumtree today.
2 are of real interest and would like your advice!
The 1st:
4x4 Nissan Patrol rolling chassis 1995 R 20,000
http://www.gumtree.co.za/view.html?adId ... paign=bolt
What's special about this is it's off a SWB! Called the chap and he said it had rolled and they scrapped the body, but everything else available. I was just daydreaming about a SWB for 4x4 challenges the day before - and now I see this. Where there any SWB's in SA? How hard would it be to find a body? Perhaps from another African country or a Jap import, where the body alone wouldn't be a problem getting across (I'm hoping?)
2nd:
1999 Nissan Patrol 4.2 Diesel 4x4 R 78,000
http://www.gumtree.co.za/view.html?adId ... paign=bolt
It's a s/cab pickup. Thinking about it for my dad to use on the farm - he's currently using a 4x2 Hardbody and it can't go everywhere and it's taking a beating. It's down the road for me, going to check it today - what are your thoughts? What should I look out for?
3rd:
1995 Nissan Patrol for sale R 120,000
Nissan Patrol SGL 4.2 l6. 1995. Van der linde conversion. 110000 km. Paintjob still in very good condition. Well taken care of. 7 seater. Lot of extras.
http://www.gumtree.co.za/view.html?adId ... paign=bolt
If anyone's interested. Low kms!
Cheers!

First one with no body: Think you would have more luck finding a gold bar lying in the road than finding a body for that, but maybe try David
Second one: Looks bloody nice and for a very good price, I would go and take a look
Third one, he must be smoking something R120K for what looks like a bog standard GQ no way

"more luck finding a gold bar"
Yeh was just fantasizing anyway - if i really feel the need will just mod my lwb
What I'll def. consider is the 2nd one - the pickup - you really think that's a good price Ian? I bought my '95 4.2 diesel for R60k - 258k on the clock. He claims this is a '99 - where they still making GQ's in '99?
How rare is the GQ pickup? Would it have been SA made?
Will report back on what I see!

Very Rare, in fact I have never seen one. Must be an import and hence the 1999 but it looks in bloody good condition and all the bits from a normal GQ should fit

Re: Today's gumtree ads - 3 Patrol's
That shorty: I once saw a fibreglass jeep body installed on a chopped Safari chassis. If I had the money, I would love to tackle a project like that!
The pickup: do understand that the GQ pickup is a very different animal to the GQ wagon. In fact it is basically a modified Safari with Patrol engine and gearbox on Safari chassis, axles and suspension.
R120k is too much for a GQ, no matter what the mileage is.

Re: Today's gumtree ads - 3 Patrol's
In regard to the SWB... being 99 it would have been a GU. I'm very surprised though that it has the TD42 in it. As for a body.. no ways, i've only ever seen one SWB GU ZD30 in South Africa in the flesh. And it was def a Euro import as it had headlight windscreen wipers etc indicative of Euro Spec.
As for Australia, ... there were never any GU SWB sent to Australia, and only a handful of GQ SWB models.
All SWB models went to south america, Europe (Portugal, italy, france, russia,),and the far east (Malaysia, thailand, Borneo etc...) , i havnt lised them all but they def got some.
I second the sentiment about the gold bar in the street. haha

Daar is minder skaars bodys daar buite wat dalk kan pas op die SWB chassis?
Sal Jeep top nie pas nie?

Russ, the SWB is a '95?
I have seen two GQ shorties 9both TD42) and two GU shorties (both 3lTDI).
A friend of my wife's once owned a GQ shorty with a 2.8l engine.

Re: Today's gumtree ads - 3 Patrol's
Jeez, i must be getting old, i could have sworn i saw 99, hahaha.
I have seen 2 GQ SWB patrols in SA. one with a TD42 the other with 2.8D. And i know there's one on this forum too.
Personally, i would seriously love the GQ SWB model.
