Video of Dune driving in Dubai

Post by vanhack »

We had a half day recovery workshop at my club, where I went along to assist with the presentation, did a small 15 minute talk on checking the vehicle before a trip, and what fluids to take.

After we had a drive with about 5 cars, roughly 50kms covered in about 4 hours.

Below is a video of the drive I took with my windscreen mounted phone....

We advise newbies for 15psi, more experienced guys go down to 12, some guys with bigger tyres and jeeps can go even lower. Biggest tyre issue we have is tyre of the wheel.

If we are stuck in very soft bowl, then we deflate below 10psi, but pump back to 12 or 10psi for normal driving. Due to driving on the side of a dune, tyres below 10psi run the risk of breaking the bead. Interesting to read that you drive lower than us, kalahari sand must be very soft and tracks must be churned. We can always find un-churned dunes.
