Ok sorry i never posted my findings again
When i pushed the wire into the two drainage holes i found that it was moving along the inside of my roof lining so i pulled it loose to find the rubber pipe that connects the drain to the hard plastic pipe was loose from the sunroof al the water in the gutter was leaking onto the roof liner and handle. Pushed it back with some silicone and made sure its open all the way to the bottom
Bob is your antie ....no more wet roof or carpets

Re: sunroof on 4.8
Hi everyone,
My drain pipe on the passenger side was blocked about 5cm from the end, causing the water not to run away inside the foot well but ending up on my inside roof cover.
To get access to the pipe you have to remove the passenger side foot well cover. Then remove the transmission control module (4.8 Auto) by undoing two screws holding it in position. Once this is done remove the insulation material and sponge and pull on the rubber hose (drain pipe).
I cleaned the pipe with a flat screwdriver, and then washed out most of the sand inside the foot well with water.
Hope this will help someone?

Re: sunroof on 4.8
Not sure if this applies to the Patrol, but I had the same problem on a vehicle that I had many years ago. It was the drain pipes that were blocked and nothing to do with seals and gaskets.
