Ja.... ol' Tinus is becoming a convert..... it took him long enough......hahahaha.
I think the only real difference will be the diesel compression on the downhills that thing brakes under its own like nothing else.

As the recipient of the dust and clods, I can guarantee you that Michael enjoyed the power of the 4.8 more than Tinus appreciated the power of the 4.2...
Kobus, die fotos wat ek tot dusver geplak het is almal op Buffalo Gorge geneem. Die fotos op hierdie pos is die wat ek by Ribbokkloof geneem het.

Riaan, yes well spotted!Bruin Beer wrote:Tinus en Michael,
I see you swopped controls at a stage.
Was there any difference detectable?
Thx.

Well like you can emagine you work a bit more with a manual than with an auto, but I really enjoy that and see it as part of the fun.
The auto makes things real easy as Tinus says, you basically aim where you want to go and then you go that way.
power wise its hard to say as both have loads of torque at very low rpm, you do however notice the differance in the throttle response between the two but besides that they do prety much the same

I also am not resistent to the idea of having a smokey in my stable.Tinus lotz wrote:I tried his koolstoof and found it very driveable one day I will have one just to have best of both worlds must say I am getting way to used to the auto ....takes all the fun out of the game
I just can't justify it right now.
Definitely not instead of a real bullet, but an addition.
As far the autobox goes: Thats just cheating and I agree, it takes some of the fun away from off-roading

Re: Buffalo Gorge 13-16 Junie 2015
hahaha..... again like the petrol - diesel challenge that we did last year, it seems that both the petrol and diesel are VERY equally matched!!!..... ok, ok.... yes ours smoke more, but that's just cause you can see our fumes....
Out of curiosity, and not wanting to hijack a thread, but which fumes out the exhaust are more toxic/environmentally unfriendly.... petrol or diesel?
