I must just add..... this was the best driving adventure I think I have EVER had. We had planned for the worst conditions and to ensure we were able to survive for 3 days with fuel etc. if cut of from emergency services. All the sleep over places we planned to go to had to be abandoned due to the snow stopping everything.... but again ... what a trip we had !!!!!

i got stuck in a traffic jam in the pass between Oxbow and Afriski for three hours, because a truck had slipped on ice and jack-knifed. Some other guy in a smaller truck then tried to pass him and got stuck in the culvert.

This was in December.

Lesotho is one place where you cannot predict road conditions...

Maar julle moet lekker speel!
Mag ons ons kenniskry met lekkerkry aanhoukry.

I think many would say this too.... plan for 2 days, but take food and warmth and sufficient fuel for at least 4 days...... ESPECIALLY in the snowy winter months.... rather over prepared than under-prepared in an emergency !!

We decided to do this trip over the long weekend in September. We will enter at Caledonspoort and overnight at Mokhotlong. Day 2 we will go to Sani and down the pass, back up again and back to Mokhotlong. Day 3 we will travel back towards Afriski but just before Afriski there is a road to the left that goes to some mine and the intake of the Katse dam to overnight at Katse Lodge. This is the road that RSG4x4 club uses every August for their snow trip. Day 4 we will travel via Caledonspoort back to Jhb.

Is daar brandstof beskikbaar naby Katsedam? Daar is 'n GWM (diesel), Triton (diesel) en my Patrol (petrol).
