Recommended Fluids and Lubricants
I am always looking for this...
edit: I changed my front diff oil on my 2006 GU and the quantities varied from above . I used 5.5 liters for the front diff and not the 3 specified

Brake/clutch fluid: If dot3/4 is recommended for europe, what would we use in africa? 3 or 4?

Re: Recommended Fluids and Lubricants
The manual says: Except for Europe : Dot 3
...but DOT4 brake fluid has a higher boiling point than DOT3 so personally I would opt for 4

Re: Recommended Fluids and Lubricants
Dot 4 has a higher boiling point, but is more hygroscopic (absorbs water faster).
So use Dot4, but then replace brake fluid annually...

Very little. Maybe 150-250ml?

Re: Recommended Fluids and Lubricants
Peter, what "Dot" brake fluid can we use in our Patrols. I know one shouldn't mix, for example Dot 3 with Dot 4.

Re: Recommended Fluids and Lubricants
Cedric, the manual states Dot-3 or Dot-4 for Europe, and Dot-3 elsewhere. So pretty sure that either or is fine. However, refer Peter's earlier disclaimer regarding hygroscopicity.
