Cracked exhaust manifold
Is it possible to weld the exhaust manifold on my 3.3? Or should I rather replace or go the freeflow branch route?

Re: Cracked exhaust manifold
Cast iron is considered a non-weldeable material. It can be welded, but a cast-iron weld will not be as strong as the base metal. Therefore, it would probably crack again. Note, probably, not definately.
I would be inclined to replace it with standard. Branches tend to increase underbonnet temperatures, although there are ways to combat that too.

At SAC Boksburg you can now get pre made De GRaaff free flow systems .. only 2 hours to have it installed..
VIPER in Kempton also just one day ..
And both of them have ceramic coating done.
Ek was nog NOOIT spyt ek het die Prado se ysters vervang nie -- maar die ceramic laag het dit draagbaar gemaak vir enjinkaphitte

Re: Cracked exhaust manifold
Die ceramic coating klink goed. Ook is dit redelik naby aan Alberton. Ek sal hulle bietjie opsoek en bel. Dankie

Re: Cracked exhaust manifold
Die ceramic coating is great.
Maar dis blikemmersins duur. As jy egter bereid is om dit te doen, is dit heel moontlik die beste opsie.

Re: Cracked exhaust manifold
The ceramic coating from Viper was half the price of SAC Kyalami when I checked a month ago. About R 3 500 for both branches right down to underneath the car. Had the branches done and freeflow fitted.
My Viper experience was probably the best fitment experience ever and you do not understand OCD until you see Abel the owner checking everything in his shop with his white gloves on.

Re: Cracked exhaust manifold
Thats the nice thing of a diesel. The outlet system gets lined with gunk so they last forever. So you safe again by driving a diesel.
With petrol i would also rather go the branches route.

Cedric, you keep forgetting that I stay in a townhouse complex. I not allowed to keep a smoking coal stove on my property
