Re: Best Oil - TD4.2Ti High Mileage
On the hx7 oil its reasonably priced but not so readily available. I do remember there was a change in the packaging, it use to say for petrol engines then it changed to petrol and diesel and thereafter I saw a can that states for diesel engines. But to be honest after A conversation I had with a big chief oil technition from chevron I really am starting to consider the delo 400 or heavy fleet xld semi synthetic.

NO sludge in sump after 220 000 Km [been on DELO since 90,000 km] 10,000 Km or less for service intervals

I can also vouch for the Delo (diesel engine lubricating oil) 400 oil , it really is excellent and also great value. I used to use it in all my diesel engines and even in my BMW G650X motorbike.

Re: Best Oil - TD4.2Ti High Mileage
Thanx Micheal,
It puts my mind a bit more at ease. However it seems the majority is rooting for the Delo400. I will then as soon as warranty expires change to the Delo400! Since I want to try and proof to the nay sayers that a ZD30 can cross 400000 k's

Re: Best Oil - TD4.2Ti High Mileage
I paid R249 per 5l.
Got my wife to pick it up for me yesterday. (She bought it from Makro-nelspruit).
Did not have time to shop around for a better price as i wanted to do the filters/oil today. Also did not want my wife driving all over town with kids in the car, looking for autozone, etc.
I had to buy 3x5l, but only need 10.5l, there was no smaller bottles/containers.

Josh
Keep in mind that you need to buy oil for the application, Delo 400 suits a old school oil burner engine where HX7 will suite a common rail engine better in my opinion.
What I mean by this is the following, on the TD42 the oil will "soot" allot sooner than on a ZD30, in other words the oil will be black and filled with carbon deposit sooner. So on the TD42 the oil will be shot at 5,000km to 7,500km regardless if you use full synthetic or mineral oil. The Delo 400 just handles this better than the HX7.
On the ZD30 you dont have this problem and your oil will not soot as soon, your engine burns fuel much cleaner and the oil does not contaminate so quick. I wpuld stick to HX7 on a ZD30.
