VHF Radio fitment???
Hi Guys,
Some assistance needed please! I bought a 2way radio (VHF) and are in the process to get a licence for it. Where should I install the radio in my 4.8 GRX Could you please give some advise and share photos. I want to install it permanently.

Re: VHF Radio fitment???
I have looked at two options. You can buy a very nice roof console for just over 5K and it fits in their. It has cubiholes for maps passports ect and it has reading lights. Or you can remove your OE radio and install the VHF radio along with a normal single deck cd player in the same space as your current double din radio.

Re: VHF Radio fitment???
Hi Dawid
good long term option from Josh. I wouldve prefered that in the long run. Mine is located left of the gear lever, lower down, don't have a pic, but it's always in the way of the passengers right leg and sometimes difficult to reach. I have also considered the mini cubbyhole, if I could find a small enough VHF. see my separate post re GPS placement there.

I had my 29 Meg in my 4.5 mounted under the drivers seat, with and external speaker, but that went with the 4.5, I now have an Anytone hand held unit that, when I am in my 4.8 I screw into a magnetic mount airial and have a plug in hand held mic. Whole set up cost me about R1500

Correct I take it with me when I move from one vehical it the other, the guy to contact is Dion at a company called Bi-comm out on the east rand their number is 011 9696542, just got another radio from them for the farm and that was R945.00. I will try and take some pictures of the unit and will post them, I have a dash bag (to hide my bubbling dash ) and the whole setup is kept in there

Re: VHF Radio fitment???
Thanks I was also wondering if it would fit in the small cubby hole. Will measure today. I am also concerned about the front passenger RHS leg if I mount it next to the gear lever.
