DHL sucks.

Anyway fitted them and after a teething issue related to a plug that was not making proper contact I have 55W biZenons HIDs. The projectors are brilliant and I will post a pick of how sharp the line is!! I realised I did not take a pick of the angel eyes on... I will post one later!!

The quality on the wiring and plugs is all very good.
Hey Biggles,
look great, I am shopping for replacement units for both the 4.5GL and the 4.2TD-T
Can you give me a reference of the source in OZ as my headlights are kind of fainted and dusty reflectors.
I think I could as well replace the whole units.
Any indications of prices?

Thanks in advance :salute:

OK, here are the detail as requested.

Micks HID projector retrofits
micksretrofits(at)netspace.net.au

I suggest you browse his spot on Patrol 4x4 Australia:

I went the whole hog with angles and the projectors all fitted into facelift style clear headlights and indicators to match. This all came with shipping to Au$1,600. Import duties were another N$4000 on top of that.

He does sell kits that are highly recommended for much less and there is quite alot of variety. He uses top notch ballasts and after replacing the non-reflectored HIDs with these I am very pleased. Mainly because they come on instantly and do not have to warm up. I am quite happy with mine.

Thanks Steve,

Have to check it out on the OZ forum then.
Not exactly an economical solutions but "hey" who cares for the "cool" factor

Just imagining the set-up with Hella HID spots and 100W LED bar combined
My current issue is when I dim the brights, it's getting pretty gloomy in front despite the HID 6000K H4's in the original housing, so I need a plan for the dim part which this addresses.

Thanks again

I did alot of research on this and had 2 false starts with cowboy HID projectors. Luckily I got my money back for those, just a waste of time and crap china products. So bit the bullet and went with someone with a rep and very happy for it. Shipping was easy and if DHL Namibia was not a bunch of brainless ejits I would have had them in 4 days.

If I have any problem is that the dipped projectors are too dipped. There is NO light above teh razor sharp line. I do feel for cars that are unlucky enough to get a full face of HID when you crest a rise. I actually downgraded from dual ballast HID no projector to single ballast with projectors and there is a big improvement.

On a side point my work bakkie had pencil beam spots and I have stopped using them on main roads. The problem is that when you dip for oncoming traffic you don't see very much except for oncoming lights. And with spots you are obliged to dip earlier than if you were just using the main beam. My Jeep had two spots angled at about 30 degrees to the side to show up the sides of the roads.

On the Toy [aka ~n!Xga'u ] I have the "drive lights' [fog lights] in LED with a seperate switch and it works with dims and brights. Then the light bar in centre works only on bright but I can switch them seperate on/off [they auto off when on dim ] .. and also there are two rows, the top one is beam and the bottom flood .. works a DREAM in Botswana driving at night
