Nissan Patrol scam
Hi all. Just a heads up, a chap is trying to sell a Nissan Patrol on Junk Mail for R40000. It looks in great condition, but no phone number and emails bounce back. He also has it listed in Jhb and sometimes Pretoria. I finally made contact and he says the car cannot be viewed as he is in the UK, but its ok as I have 2 days after paying him via ebay that I can get a full refund if I am unhappy. Seen these scams before.
Regards
Barry

Re: Nissan Patrol scam
He should rather sell a fictional Fortuner or Hilux.
The bigger the market, the more fools may be happy to pay.
Skilpad, Shortie, Toro & Masewa

A fool and his cash is soon parted.
Why would you pay for a vehicle without even seeing it?

Re: Nissan Patrol scam
The amount of "on-line" scams whether it's junkmail olx, gumtree are horrific and some are cleverly disguised, it must be getting close to the number of 419 scams. I recently looked at a lawnmower, phone no, email the works, this guys in Kimberly even set photos on a"company" profile type email signature, so I check the company no, valid one with name close the said company, i.e. XYZ Equipments (most of teh time you will always find a spelling mistake in the email address or details) vs the real company XYZ and XYZ but the real XYZ and XYZ is an attorney firm in Pretoria. The catch - please pay into our back account, normally ewallet or something and then we will send.
I almost do a standard search on the number, email address and scam to see if it raises a red flag .

Eish - on my second patrol and I bought both without going to look at them first....Stefan wrote:A fool and his cash is soon parted.

First one was paid before I laid my eyes on it....
Maybe I should be a bit more careful
Second one at least was known by the forum

Re: Nissan Patrol scam
I also looked at this Patrol for R47000.00 with low kms and replied to this email address ,and same story
josh@yahoo.com ..you can make payment into an account and once the funds is cleared will the car be released via E-BAY
If you cant see the vehicle before hand or have spoken to a person about the vehicle .....its a scam of note

Re: Nissan Patrol scam
I just sold my seven this week, to a guy from plet who has not seen it yet. He has paid me a deposit, but currently has nothing to show for it.offroadbiker wrote:Eish - on my second patrol and I bought both without going to look at them first....Stefan wrote:A fool and his cash is soon parted.

I am glad he was prepared to take a chance on me.
Yes, there are lots of scammers out there, but fortunately there are still more good people than bad.
