Visa - Visiting Mozambique

Post by stobi_de »

Good morning!
I'm in 2 weeks in your country again (only in Kruger-NP) and I have to visit Mozambique for one day to get a stamp in my Carnet-paper (something like an import-paper for the car).
Some month ago I got the information, that I'll get a transfer visa at the border. Yesterday I got the info, that this is not possible, I have to send my passport 6 weeks before to the moz. embassy in Germany to get the visa, means: I can't visit Mozambique.

Is it possible to get a visa at the border or not? I want cross the border at Komatipoort.
The only other chance is the border to Zimbabwe. The next borderpost is Breitbridge?

Only to explain: I drive a german car with german number plate. When I go to a country, the car is temporarily importet for one year, so I can drive without problems. For that I have a document, called carnet de passages. I have to leave every year a country (or in South Africa the customs union), than it is possible to come back for another year.

I visit Moz quite often, and I enter at the southern border post near Kosi Bay.
LAst year I took some Swedish friends with and we were able to get temp visa at the border without any problem.
...I just phoned the Moz Consulate at Nelspruit (google it!) and they confirmed that it is possible to get a temp visa at the border fopr German citizen.

Not sure what your p[lans are but you can do a circular route into moz, then go south, and enter swaziland from the east at Namaacha, then travel north again in Swazi, and come out near to where you entered MOz.
Will take a day, apprx 250kms
Will send you a map if interested.

I'm on tour with some friends. They booked everything.
We will stay in Kruger-NP for 15 days and then we leave to the west.

Until now I know nearly nothing from your country and I want to see ZA first.
My first impressions of ZA are very good, I want to see more!

In Oktober we have seen Pilanesberg, Imfolozi, some places at the coast, a little bit Durban and a short trip to the Drakensberg.
15 Year ago I have been in Capetown, Lambersbay, Augrabies and the KTP.

You see: I know nothing!

The trip to moz is only for the carnet.
