Is this also the case with the 4.2td?
So what can be done to a 4.2 to increase performance?

Fanus,
Talk to Mynhardt at SAC Centurion. They have been working only Troll for years and know what can be done with out sacrifising reliability.

Tour de frans is a expert on this motor with a lot of very happy customers. ...send him a pm and have a chat .....just remember a 4.2 is never going to be a race car but its a great motor with ample power . Michael one has impressed me big time .....get a good bakkie and first drive it then see what your needs are ......oherwise get a 4.8 if you want to go big .....or even a v8 conversation frans has done a couple. ...

Re: RaceChip® Pro2
Fanus,
As a 4.2 diesel owner as well as Cedric and Christo and Michael( sorry Michael never met you) we can attest to the reliability this engine has. Simply makes sure you change the oil and keep the diesel clean and you will have a reliable engine that very few can match.
All of us have turbo and intercooler, mine being a Safari system and Christo and Cendric,s local options and power on the wheels is at around 92 to 95 kW, with torque being in the region of 335 Nm.
A great truck to drive and a monster off road. The torque these engines have make mince meat of most off road conditions and it is simply a case of aim in the direction you want to go and off you go.
I am sure we could also arrange a GTG so you can see our Trolls and we can then discuss what we have done and maintenance options. I would also like to introduce you the the gents at SAC as they have done a great job on my Troll.
Feel free to call me on zeroseventwooneninethreesevenoneeightone.
Cedric, Christo, and Michael ar you guys up for my suggestion ?

Re: RaceChip® Pro2
By the sound of it there is something else wrong. First compare the performance to another standard vehicle in similar conditions to determine if you are now trying to treat the symptoms with a chip or if you should instead attend to the real cause of the problem.

Nor reliability nor durability. Is the RaceChip Pro not for racing? There is a lot of considerations that goes into an engine, and performance is only one of many aspects considered by the designers. So it may be possible to achieve more performance, but most likely you will be upsetting a delicate balance, the result of which may only show up much further down the road. But if performance is the only goal, it should work.Giladbethalevi wrote:Any advice will help before I lay out the money is it worth it? I am looking for performance don't care about fuel eficency
