April 2014 - Zambia & Bots - where to go ?
Hi 4x4,
We are planning a trip in April 2014, got 16 days. We currently live in Nigeria, so we would fly in and rent a 4x4 in Lusaka.
Looking for recommendations on the best routes/itinerary to take out of Lusaka - what are the must see
We are planning return to Lusaka, but could also fly out of Harere, if Zimbabwe is a recommended must.
Travelling with 4 kids (13,12,10 and 9 yrs) and we are looking at doing a mix of camping and lodges.
Thanks

Of course it depends on what you like seeing, but it seems to me northern Bots and Zim (mostly against the river) is perhaps the best wildlife area in Africa, with the possible exception of the Mara.
Places like Chobe and Mana pools are must-see destinations.

To Chris.
Welcome to the site.
Are you in LAGOS ? V I ? ek mis die ou dorpie,

Chris - I see yu did not include the Chobe sundown river ride .. it is a MUST MUST MUST.
Near Kasane is Senyanti Lodge -- "the beste water hole in Botswana" -- and it deserves at least one night over.
You also miss out on Victoria Falls as wel .. is that your intention ? or "oversight' ? [mere 70 km from Kasane [Kazangulu border post]
Ek kyk nog bietjie na julle program maar dis omtrent so goed as kan kom .

Re: April 2014 - Zambia & Bots - where to go ?
Chris, we stayed at Third Bridge in April 2012.
Not sure how much it has gone backwards since then, but at the time they were busy upgrading the ablutions.
The camp was clean, the wildlife reasonable and the ablutions were adequate. If you can survive at Baines, you can thrive at third bridge.
My feeling is, if you are going for the camp facilities, go to SANPARKS.
If you are going for the experience, and to be as close as possible to nature, go to third bridge.

Hi Kagiso II & peter,
