Electronic Ignition

Post by christolemmer » 18 Sep 2013 10:13

I own a 1996 Patrol 4.2 SGL. I would like to know if it is advisable to change the points and condenser to electronic. Will such a conversion have any affect on power and feul consumtion?

Hallo Christo,
Welkom hier by ons.
Groete
Johan

This is one of the best upgrades you can do to a car with standard points and condensor.

Fit a Pertronix Ignitor and never worry about timing again and your car will start easier and idle smoother

On my old Safari I also replaced the coil to a Flame-Thrower Coil with new leads and new distributor cap.

Agree, this is a very good mod to do, just keep your points and things you take out in the tool box just for incase you need them in the bush one day... QQQ Have also done the mod and it works perfect. Contact Offshore Marine International, 021 786 1007, omiintl@mweb.co.za. it will set you back at about R1100.

Dankie ek dink jy is reg.
