1999's Alarm Remote Replacement

Post by SJBS »

My remote has been giving some problems for some time and I have decided to clean it with electrical cleaner.

Unfortunately when disassembling the remote, the button came appart and it's internals are now MIA. :surprised:

Luckily I had a spare remote in the safe, but it also looks a bit shaky as if the battery leaked at one stage....

Does anyone know of a place where I would be able to obtain a replacement remote? (I'm writing to Northcliff Nissan shortly to obtain a quote tomorrow - as I'll be back in JHB on Wednesday)

You should be able to buy a switch from an electronics shop and solder out the old one and solder in the new one.

Photocopiers also use that type of switches. Try and get a broken control panel and get a switch from it.

Most of the bigger lock and key suppliers hould be able to assist you. They can even cut and program your coded key for you and supply an aftermarket remote for the later Patrols. (lot cheaper than the stealers)

Hi Herrie, you have just made me ask more questions here...

Did the 1999 4.5 patrol GRX come standard with an alarm immobiliser?
If yes, is the picture that I have posted an aftermarket unit, or Nissan standard? (Sorry for not posting with the remote case closed, but it is a black two part plastic case, attached by two small philips screws at the bottom with a black rubber botton and red led on top. The remote can also be used a a "jack" by pluging the remote unit into plug under the steering - by means of 4 metal connectors at the bottom of the remote)

Thanks

Hi there

I ahve phoned Independant Radio in Centurion, but they indicate the only do AUTOWATCH. I was at Nissan this afternoon, and they are of the opinion that this is not a Nissan original remote.

The remotes that I ahve does not have any identification...

Can anyone here maybe identify the remotes and/or where I might be able to find a replacement?

I dont think that's an AutoWatch -- there's are rounded at the bottom A F I K

If you can get to Pta East - Menlyn, take it to CK Auto Electrical [Next to SAFARI Centre Menlyn] -- Ask Challenge to I D the remote for you and if he can fix it .. if he can't he will refer you to the right place that can

Thanks Oom,

A quick google provided the following link:
CK Auto Electrical

but it seems like they are in Edenvale...

Is this the company you are referring to?

(I'm in Ellisras, you don't maybe have a telephone number for CK Auto Elec?)
