If you take the petrol price at R 13.00/Liter, The Patrol at 5.5 Km/L and the "Other" vehicle at 8 Km/L
For 1000 Km traveled:
Patrol 1000/5.5 = 181.82 L x R 13.00/L = R 2364
"Other" Vehicle 1000/8 = 125 L x R 13.00/L = R 1625
Difference of R 739 per 1000 Km Traveled
With the above in mind for every 100 000 Km traveled you would pay +- R 73 900 more on fuel with the Patrol than with the "Other" vehicle - and with the absolute bargain prices you currently can get a Patrol for :
If you pay R 100 000 more for the "Other" Vehicle you could travel 135 318 Km with the Patrol before break-even
If you pay R 150 000 more for the "Other" Vehicle you could travel 202 977 Km with the Patrol before break-even
If you pay R 200 000 more for the "Other" Vehicle you could travel 270 636 Km with the Patrol before break-even
On R 250 000 more it would be 338 295 km and on R 300 000 it would be 405 954 km before break- even !!!!!!!!!
This don't even include the added costs of the breakdowns with the "Other" vehicle in comparison to the Patrol
Summary - I JUST LOVE MY PATROL !!!!
