My Patrol, I have it
Well after a long look and (I admit it) a forced purchase, I bought a GU 3.0 diesel. I am still a little worried about the 3.0D as I really wanted a 4,2 The 4,5's were plentiful but fuel consumption and my head won the battle. After owning (still do) a 3,5 V6 Pajero I know what heavy fuel consumption can do to a wallet in a hurry. I have taken the Patrol into the Langkloof on a regular trip I did with the Pajero and without getting toooooooo technical I find it to be about 40% lighter overall than the Pajero, so magic. I did a small 4x4 route over the weekend and found it to be a very different car to the Pajero. From very little front articulation, to a massive amount, from very little low down torque to plenty and from no rear locker to a loverly little button

Re: My Patrol, I have it
Hi Dave
Congratulations on your buy.
The ZD30 has wonderful consumption for a three ton vehicle.
Every engine is different en needs to be driven differently. So moving from your Pajjy 3.5 to a diesel will take some time to get used to.
If well looked after there is nothing wrong with that engine. But as said above, an EGT important. Lots of info on this forum on what to do more.
Looking forward to riding with you when I am back in the Southern Cape in December.
But I still think one needs front lockers to ride up the steep part of "Horse shoe"?
