Battery for 4.5 GRX
Well the winter is coming so I guess the battery suppliers are all smiling
Just came back last week from a trip, and the next day when attempted to start the vehicle, it was dead. I did a quick charge (4 hrs) and later it was fine. But the following morning once again dead... Thus I guess I am in for the 3 yearly battery replacement.
I have a 639 battery currently installed,
but the Battery Center website recommends:
What I the largest battery that can be installed, getting some spare capacity for the weekends?
Any recommendations or advice will be appreciated.
Thanks

Those + and - pins must be on the other side of the battery

Thanks guys,
Did any of you upsize? If yes to what did you upsize to? (No mods please, just swap for larger/higher capacity battery )

Re: Battery for 4.5 GRX
I have this battery - probably about the biggest that fits into the space - 2,5 years and going strong.
Make some proper heavy duty terminal connectors for yourself as well...

Re: Battery for 4.5 GRX
Thanks David and Christo,
I could not obtain any of these "exotics" in the bush and had the following choices:
Make Model Cn 20 hr Ah Is Hold Down L W H Price
Dixon 638 60 280 B0 240 172 220 R 715,92
Dixon 646 60 270 B3 240 175 190 R 747,84
FNB 639H 60 285 B0 241 173 215 R 750,00
But in reality because of the "hold down" and polarity, I only had a single choice. Life is much simpler in the bush as it limits your choices....
During the replacement I found significant airflow space between the battery and the plastic cover - I assume this was all used for the VARTA - it really looks like a massive battery!
If I compare the physical size and the electrical the Varta is in a different league!
Is my assumption right that it will equate to 5 tanks of petrol ? For future reference, where would you purchase one and what guarantee does it have?
