Same thing happened to me, loose connection caused the light to fail every 2 months and melted in the same spot, although not as much as yours.

I also replaced the globes with the Osram Daybreaker... made a nice difference, especially on dims.

Thanks guys.
I've fixed the issue ... just did both my lights at the same time so i dont have any issues later.
Turns out its simple as can be....
I'll post up some pics of the fix for anyone needing the same help in the future...
