Audio system

Post by DanieG »

I want to replace the standard system in the Patrol with something that would provide the following.
Radio / CD
Satnav
USB
Reverse camera
Dashcam
Hands free.

The system must also work on the steering controls. I received a few quotations, but all have seperate dash cams or satnavs. Unfortunately I have no knowledge of the modern trademarks and do not want the most expensive product, but also do not want to feel dissapointed.

Any advice will be appreciated.

Danie,

If you can find your way into Gauteng...
Call A & S Wholesalers in Pretoria, they "stack them high, and sell them low"

Double din systems with screen, for CD, DVD, blue tooth, camera, GPS etc, at prices far below what you get retail mostly.
I installed an AKAI system in December 2015, and still no issued with it. Comes with 12 month guarantee.
I recently bought another system for another car from them.

You can call them at 012 323 2101 (10 Bazaar street, Asian Bazaar)

Danie,

I too have a unit from A&S that Alex helped me with.

I have had no issues with it.

Not knowing what phone you use and prefer, have a look at the app radios. Basically a big screen and amp and they connect seemlessly to your apple phone. Pretty dam cool!

Here an example from pioneer.

I got an Audio bank radio (double din) from the son. Got it installed in the Patrol and it works just fine. The radio new would cost around R4500. It has cd / dvd player, USB port, reverse camera, can take external dvd screen, blue tooth for cell phone (not yet tested ), GPS and the controls all work from the steering controls. The sound quality is far better in my opinion.

Question..... what do I do with the old one I took out?
