On mine ( GU ), i have it loosely lying under the drivers seat. The handle to move the seat forward and backwards stops the sub from sliding forward. Its not ideal like that, but I've been too lazy to take out the front seat and mount it properly under the the seat. Even with it sitting length ways under the seat there is still enough room for my eldests size 11 pata pata's...

I'd have to go measure it, the sub I mean, but if I recall there was a 10" and a 8" available. I'll check and let you know.

Looked at some prices this morning and.......ish its very expensive :surprised:

So here is a couple of questions:
1. Is it really worth paying 4k for a sub? Will it really sound 4x better than one of 1k? I see other name brand on autostyle for alot cheaper
2. Even the 6.5" speakers are quite pricy. So is the brand Kicker really worh the extra bucks?
3. How does a split system compare to a 3 way speaker sound wise? Is this also worth the extra money?

I'm no guru on sound quality, however I do have a fine ear for the quality of sound of the music I specifically like, and can say that I've heard a few different sound systems over the years.

The Kicker brand is fairly big in the USA, and often see the branding on motoring sponsorship.

I was also a little apprehensive before I bought the Kicker system, but knowing Christo's experience on this topic, I bit the bullet and bought it. I play my music hard and heavy, pushing the speakers and sub fairly hard almost all the time. In my opinion they still sound as good as the day I bought them. I only fitted the Kicker split system in the front doors as I had a new set of lesser known split system speakers that I had bought a year or so before but never fitted them. I can hear the quality difference between the lesser known brand and the Kickers.... more so now after 4 odd years of working them. The clarity of the mid range sound is not what I would like it to be, so I will still chuck the old cheapies and replacing them with the Kickers.

1. Is it really worth paying 4k for a sub? Will it really sound 4x better than one of 1k? I see other name brand on autostyle for alot cheaper
Again, I'm no guru, but from the way I understand it from Christo, its actually about the built in amp of the sub. there is some special technology in that thing that will take weaker sound signals and boost them differently to what other standard amps will do to enhance the sound quality of those sound frequencies ( like I say I know squat about this, so Christo explained it to me in dummy style ). So in shoert its like taking a Marantz amp, and a fong kong amp..... one pays for quality. I believe that the Kicker range, for its price range is the best value for money for what it delivers.

2. Even the 6.5" speakers are quite pricy. So is the brand Kicker really worh the extra bucks?
Again same as above..... If you want to hear what each band member is playing on a great acoustic version of Led Zeppelins Stairway to Heaven, then you need good quality speakers. Bear in mind too the quality of the headunit that you are playing the music through. If the headunit is cheapy Blaaupunkt, you can have thew best speakers in the world, but it will still sound average. So a balance is needed.

3. How does a split system compare to a 3 way speaker sound wise? Is this also worth the extra money?

I believe there is a HUGE difference sound quality wise between split systems and integrated systems. Kicker do both, but with a split system, you have crossovers, that come with the speakers. These channel the right frequencies to the correct speakers so the speaker isn't trying to put out a sound that its not designed to put out, therefore only delivering the frequencies for a clearer more defined sound quality. 2 way or 3 way systems basically have a capacitor suck in between the different speakers to absorb the frequencies that that specific speaker can't handle.

Worth the money???...... For me yes it was, but its all about what you want out of it.

I am heading much the same direction as you, I have replaced my rear speakers a while back with 6" JVC speakers wit built in tweeters and they sound really good..... so good I can barely hear my front ones

My plan is to go for the 6.5" setup with the sub under the seat, my friend's Anarok has a sub like that under his seat and it sounds awesome!!

Would you mind listing a link of your items you bought on takelot?
Not at all:
6.5" Speakers with tweeters (for the front doors)
6.5" Speakers (for the rear pax doors)

My next priority is a double DIN head-unit with blue-tooth, so I'll have to wait before getting the sub.

Nice Stefan !!!

When you get the sub you will be blown away on the sound difference it makes !!

On the head units try get one that has multiple RCA outputs. I have three sets of 5-volt preamp outputs on mine, so one to the sub and 2 more can go to other amps for the door speakers or a second sub. I would say a minimum of 2 RCA outputs is needed.
