Dankie vir julle hulp.
Dit is vir my buurman. Se hulle het al die dokumente voltooi, maar nou kort hulle 'n export nommer.
Gedink dit gaan 'n moeilike proses wees. Gesê ek sal hoor op die Patrol forum of iemand dit al suksesvol gedoen het.
Groete

Re: Import Vehicle into Namibia
Well, I sold my old GQ to a guy in Nam.
He used a chap here in SA called Dudley who dealt with driving the car up there and doing police clearance etc. seems Dudley does this a lot. The only issue for me now is the Patrol is in the buyers name and all sorted on the nam side, but it never got taken off my name here in SA. According to the seller and Dudley it should have, but someone at the border/dept didn’t do their job. Either way I’m stuffed. But if you want I can dig up Dudley’s details for you.

Re: Import Vehicle into Namibia
It goes like this.
You must police clearance your car in SA along with a sarpco clearance. And your car must be de-registered in SA to get a sarpco clearance. And without a sarpco clearance you cannot import and register here.
You need ontop of that 2 agents at the border. One on SA side with an export tax number to assist with export. On nam side an agent with a nam import tax number to assist with import docs.
Without this you cannot import or register.
Then there is a co2 tax which is a resent thing. For the 4.8 I paid 9k on CO2 tax. Plus you must pay 16% of invoice amount.
You could always get 3 quotes to determine the car value. This is not enough no more. Apparently.
Now you must have the invoice or a affidavit of what you paid for the car.
And this is info I got from various officials. And not are in agreement on everything.
Its a bit of a mess. But not impossible. If you can get your ducks in a row. Import one time with all papers correct. It should be doable.
Best would be to find one company that can assist with the whole process on both sides.
If you do find such a company. Please let us know.
O and lastly. All importing and payments mus happen at the border where you enter. This is best according all I spoke to.

Also speak to Johaan from Springbok imports in Pretoria. He knows a great deal and also knows people in the business. He imported my Nissan Patrol into SA from the UK and seemed to be familiar with the rules of local export as well.
