swart gadget

Post by jonathan »

That looks like an internal radio antennae to replace the telescopic one on the front fender. I have one on my windscreen too... just a different shape

I had a different one and was told that it's for a phone - years ago you needed an antenna for you phone.

Oh yes ... I had one for my old Nokia car kit that held, I think it was the Nokia 5110 or something like that.

You could trace the wire from the gadget. By removing the glove box, and looking up under the dash trace the cable to either the radio ( in which case, probably a good idea to leave it alone  ) or possibly it will just be hanging around not connected to anything or possibly connected to an old Nokia black box that is more than likely not operational at all.

Thanks Cedric. I am not too keen to go a disassembling! But that black box in the first photo does look familiar. When I replaced the carpets and had the centre console out there was something that looked just like that in front of the gear shift. Didn't want to fiddle with it so I just stuck it back in there!
