Looks great, how's those Maxxis noise, etc and cost wise? I've currently got 265/70/17's Yokos, are the 285's much worse fuel and performance wise? I've only got about 3-5k tread left

Morning all, thats my new baby so let me answer the questions quick.

Lift was more than expected, about 100mm at the front. But this was because the front springs were shagged. I had about 20mm clearance to the bump stops!! this was the main reason for the new suspension.

It was however a medium EFS kit that was installed so as to cater for the bumper and winch. At the rear I went for +100kg as I dont really load the car. I pull a trailer for all the camping junk.

She rides quite a bit firmer that I thought she would. But I am quite sure she will settle and I will grow accustomed to the setup.

The tyres... have a chat with Riaan. The price I paid was very competitive. Size is 285/70/17. We are just looking for a rim for the spare so I can sort that out.

All in all I am very happy.

To answer the otehr questions, fuel wise I suspect a drop in economy but have not got enough miles under the belt on this car to quantify.

Noise, yip they are noisy.

Size wise, well on the 3 litre diesel I actually have to use 1st gear now. Previously I had no need to use first other than on an incline.

Speedo is not close to correct. About 4% under. 110 on speedo is about 115 on GPS.

Looks good man .....just check your odo to the gps also on my 4.8 it is the same with speed but under reads about 7 % under so you need to ad the km to your odo to get correct feul consumpsion

I also did EFS shocks and lift and same size BFG's - my ODO is now about 100% correct on both distance and speed - there was approx 10% over-read before. As Tinus says, if you don't take this into account you will think your fuel consumption has got worse with the new set-up, when in fact there was no noticeable difference, at least in my case, between standard and mod set-up.

Thanks Dale and congrats! To be more specific with noise, I know all muds hum, no problem but with the 285's do they make a knock knock / clapping sound? I had a pair of muds at that profile and they were "clapity", my 265/70's no such noise just hum

Hi Stefan,
very much so. She pulled before as well. I have had her on the alignment machine and saw a 3mm difference in the parallel measurement of the diffs. So she would tend to crab a bit to the left. The condition is IMHO not caused by lift nor tyres but rather diff alignment. Exaggerated by lift and tyres.
