WARNING - Beware of traps when viewing second hand vehicles

Post by ces »

Hi all,

It is with great sadness and mixed feelings that I send out this warning. But if it can save anyone the pain we are going through...

This week my god child was led into a trap and gunned down near Alberton after reacting to an advertisement for a second-hand Prado. (The story was in yesterday's Beeld and on Maroelamedia). Apparently the vehicle was advertised on two popular web sites; and he and the "seller" had had various discussions about it. All looked legit. So he and a friend drove out to have a look.

The seller didn't arrive at the pre-arranged destination, but asked to meet on an unmarked road. That is where the trap had been set, and the senseless killing took place. The culprits tried to get away with his Hilux, but damaged it and left it at the scene.

1) If you don't know the guy, meet at a public place
2) If you feel uncomfortable, forfeit the car
3) If you have paid a deposit, and feel unsafe, rather loose the money

Ag, julle weet seker meer as ek oor tweedehandse karre koop. Maar ek moet jul waarsku, wees veilig en versigtig. Die duiwel en sy handlangers is los daar buite.

Keep safe, please.
Christoph
