Pimply dash

Post by Silverfox »

Just letting you know that I have had my dash replaced free of charge by Nissan. I was on the Aussie forum and saw that Nissan Australia is replacing the dashes. Mine is a 2005 3.0 manual. I contacted Nissan SA via e-mail and they called me the very next day. The woman said they weren't aware of the problem and I replied that it is prevalent on my model and that I know of many. I explained that in 2007 when the Trol was just out of warranty, I quiried the problem and I was told it was due to additives used on the dash which I never used. So I just left it. It got so bad that I had to cut the blisters to deflate them.
I was asked which dealer was closest to me which happened to be Boksburg which sold the Trol originally. They made arrangements with me and I took it into them on a trailer on the way to TNT Exhaust 8 weeks later as I was busy with the fitting of the LQ9 6.0 Vortec engine. It was quite a sight as the tow vehicle was my daughters '98 Landy 90 Tdi.
They had a look and took pics. The next day they phoned me to let me know that I must bring it in. This I did after I got it back from TNT 3 weeks later. I first had it it home for 3 weeks to wire up the computer and connect up the wiring harness. It started straight away, but I was still waiting for the O2 sensors from US Powersport. Once these were fitted I drove the vehicle to Nissan.
Two days later I had it back. Although the colour was not the same, it looked awesome. Mine was black and the new, a bluey black.
Thank you Nissan SA and to Nissan Boksburg.

I had mine done a year ago or so, but I never took it back to have a rattle sorted out on the passeneger side. More or less where the airbag sits. Anyone else experience the same issue?

JohnBoy,
Pop the "cubule" remove 7 Phillips self tapper screws and pry the assembly out.
Now the complete fan assembly and inside of dash is exposed.
The culprit should be visible.
I also have a 2005 of which the dash was re-aboltered by Elite via Boksburg Nisssan where I bought it.
Had to be redone and readdressed a few times.
I would also like to get Nissan to properly fix the flaw they produced.
Bruin Beer.

PK so Nissan SA contacted me. I made an appointment with DTM Helderberg to asses the problem. See them on Friday.

Must say Robin from Nissan SA was very helpful but all depends now on Friday's assessment, as well as the fact that Nissan SA did not want to honour the warrantee as Johan Badenhorst had the Patrol serviced in Zambia by Nissan Zambia on their way to Kenya in the Voetspore 3 series. (Nissan SA sponsored the Patrols, yes it is the one Johan drove, got the weld marks on the chasse where Ray welded the towbar to the chasse)

Surprise surprise...... Nissan SA warantees contact me and they will replace the bubbly dash I only need to cover the labour... +- R900.00. :blonde: :blonde: :woo: :woo:

What a pleasant early christmass present from Nissan. Seems as if they are starting to wake up in SA for a change! (even got the work hourly rate down to warrantee rate)

Now I'm waiting for DTM Helderberg to contact me to arrange for the work to be done.
