They will recall 25,000 ZD30 Y61 units in Australia, while the report states "...there have not been any incidents reported in Australia..."!!!
Yet, regarding the overfuelling problem of these very same engines, Nissan have remained dead silent.

What is the overfueling that you are talking about? I have a 4.8 and at times I can smell petrol I have seen it also overflowing out of the two caps. Nissan has replaced the cap but it has happened again. It is not consistent so difficult to solve.

Over fuelling refers to excessive amounts of diesel being injected into the cylinders. It has nothing to do with your 4.8 and "overfilling". Over fueling is a term used for diesels that a running to rich. There are more diesel in the cylinder than can be burned with the O2/air that are in the cylinder. This causes high temperatures in the exhaust. This can lead to a cracked head, burned pistons.
Over fueling in petrol cars, like your 4.8, is called a to rich mixture. This can be sorted out with a decent dyno and adjustments on your car's ECU. This will improve your fuel efficiency as well. The biggest fueling problem with petrol engines is when it is running lean. This causes high temperatures in the engine. I have a 4.5 Patrol and I also smell a bit of petrol when the engine is cold. This seems to be normal for the patrols. I had my car at a dynotuner after I replaced my petrol pump.
I hope this makes it clearer to you. If someone knows more on this they can add or if I said something incorrect please feel free to correct me.
