If I were you I would do what Chris said and return the vehicle and get a refund, you're setting yourself up for a long and uphill battle.
There will be other Patrols.

Thanks Tinus, Jorrie & Stefan,
I'm considering all options at present, but want to return Patrol,
only as a last resort, if possible.
These are the list of problems found, on first inspection, after receiving the Patrol:
- The ABS light on permanently - Oh, and was appraised this past Friday (by the dealership), that this repair/replacement would cost +-R4500-R5000
- IMG_3240.JPG (3.32 MiB) Viewed 5394 times
- Battery hold-down clamp missing
- DSC_0019_2.JPG (427.88 KiB) Viewed 5394 times
- On balancing the un-balanced tyres (as handed over to me) - The different length wheel studs were spotted
- IMG_3231.jpg (1.85 MiB) Viewed 5394 times
- The broken fan cowl.... which might be detrimental to the efficient cooling of the engine ??
- IMG_3230.JPG (1009.52 KiB) Viewed 5394 times
- One of the two front tyre-wells, that are missing the debri skirts. Probably important to keep out stones & muck from getting into the moving parts of the engine & pulleys??
- IMG_3234.jpg (1.55 MiB) Viewed 5394 times
Included in this list is (though not shown), are the 3x (of 4x) aircleaner clips that are missing, the refund of the roadworthy test fees and an exhaust that has "blown", after only 800km of ownership...
As I've said, It's not an insurmountable list, ..... Just one that is "
YET TO BE ADDRESSED, by the Nissan Dealership....

Hi mate.
I went through all of your frustrations and experiences with a certain Nissan Dealership in CT, however far worse, if you can imagine that. My vehicle was still under manufacturers warranty aswell, and i had my vehicle on their floor for 109 DAYS with NO courtesy car, and even worse,....NO RESPONSIBILITY and URGENCY shown by Nissan.
My story is here on this forum somewhere, but to be honest its too traumatic to for me to dig up and go back into in detail.
Basically Nissan in SA have proven to me time and time again to be a bunch of jokers making money for nothing. Too comfortable in their titles earning a salary weather theres one angry client or 10000 angry clients, NO ONE is held responsible, nor accountable, there is no investigating, there is no assistance, no one gives a shit how many times you call, or who you call,i liken them to a governmental Department,... When you buy Nissan you on your own mate.
Regardless of how many calls and emails to the COMPLAINTS DEPARTMENT, you still wont get any joy. Who do you complain to when its the Complaints Dept you are actually complaining about? its totally outrageous.
Hello peter and vehicle ombudsman helped me and i also ended up throwing in a threatening letter of legal action, only then did shit start to fly.
If for no other reason, that will be the reason i buy a Toyota next time.
Sorry if this offends anyone but it happened to me and its the truth. I lost lots of money in the process as this is my trade vehicle i use for work, and my partner and i went through hell, over something that should never have even been an issue as it was covered under warranty.... Pathetic .
Hope you come right and dont endure any more nonsense with this.
Feel free to call me if you need advice on which channels to take, or just a shoulder to cry on, hahaha.
Best
Russ.

I agree wholeheartedly. A new vehicle purchase should be fun and exciting and enjoyable, sure there are bound to be a few niggles here and there, but thats acceptable. However, you have been dicked about here mate, and by the looks of it this vehicle may not be worth the fight.

She is a beauty, hope you got a good price!
Remember that according to the consumer protection act, you only have a limited time to get a full refund.
If you are determined to keep her, better be prepared to fix her yourself and try and reclaim (sue) for the monies
1. Re the ABS light, this is what the service manual states:
>When the vehicle speed is less than 10 km/h (6 MPH) this system does not work.
>The Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) has a self-test function. The system turns on the ABS warning lamp for 1 second each time the ignition switch is turned “ON”. After the engine is started, the ABS warning lamp turns off. The system performs a test the first time the vehicle reaches 6 km/h (4 MPH). A mechanical noise may be heard as the ABS performs this self-test. This is a normal part of the self-test feature. If a malfunction is found during this check, the ABS warning lamp will stay on.
> While driving, a mechanical noise may be heard during ABS operation. This is a normal condition.
> While DIFF-LOCK is on, the anti-lock brake warning light flashes. This indicates that anti-lock may not be fully operated. (ABS only)
From the service manual, it seems that there is quite a comprehensive error guide that the guys with the computers can check, so like always, have them test and isolate the problem before just starting to replace components.
I have no idea what this may cost, so I guess you'll have to budget for the R5K they estimate. (I would take it to an independent though)
2. The battery holder should be generally be available
3. Have a search on the forum, can't think that studs would be impossible to get hold of.
4. You're going to have to spring for a new cowl cover. I doubt that they will be generically available and Nissan is going to charge like a wounded buffalo. (Unless you want to fix it with fibreglass, or see if you can get one from a Patrol being broken up for spares)
5. You can cut some debris skirts from conveyor belt.

Nino, this is sad indeed! I stay on the West Coast and coincidentally had some work done on my Troll whilst your's was still on the showroom floor at the dealers. I remember thinking how awesome it looked and still wanted to take a photo of that front bumper cause I thought it looked particularly nice. The saddest part is that after I got my Troll back I still posted on the forum how impressed I was with the service I received. The service obviously isn't consistent and doesn't extend through to the sales dept!
I hope you manage to get it all sorted. That is a brilliant vehicle!

I guess stories like this (which incidentally happen with most manufacturers in this country) are why I buy older second-hand cars. So that I know I am entirely on my own.
WRT the faults on your car: I doubt that the fender skirt will have any effect on operation or performance. The wheel studs can be sourced from a decent fastner supply shop, but it's quite a big job to fit them. The fan shroud will cost you a couple of grand from Nissan SA, but if you can find somebody who travels to Arabia for business they can be had for much cheaper over there. Or try Jean Volschenk on this forum, he has recently stripped one of those for parts.
The ones that worry me are the exhaust (which I would take to a normal exhaust shop), and more importantly the ABS.
I reckon your first usefull steps will be going to the ombudsman with all your correspondence, and thereafter the threat of legal action...
