Thanks for the info Peter. I was worried about that, and thats why I rather asked before causing trouble. I am already worried about putting double the torque to that TC compared to a standard Safari installation, and how the mounts and chassis fixtures are going to handle it. I started asking at BMG, as we have an account with them. Then to two other bolt and engineering companies here, and they all gave me the exact same answer, and that would be to have the bolts made. So I stopped the search there as I was not sure if those guys would really be making HT bolts for me.

I presently have the studs turned out around 10mm of there usually positions on two of the mounts, and a lot further on the last mount. So far in fact that I have managed to strip the first three turns in the casing on the one hole already. I would prefer those bolts to tighten up right to the bottom of there holes for maximum strength. I would rather take bolts that are too long and cut them down, or even make studs out of them.

I have 6 off M10 x 1.25 bolts, 70mm long. They have 30mm of thread. Can that help?

Thanks Peter, but I'm afraid not. But thanks for the contacts to those companies. I will be in contact with them and see what they have. I have however discovered other problems I first need to sort out. The safari to Hardbody marriage has caught me out again, and my crossmembers do not line up as I would have liked.

Update long coming I suppose. Sani I on the go again. Ran yesterday on it's own steam for the first time in over 18 months.
First thing I had to test, was the dual TC's in low range, and here is my crawler..

Checked some clearances on the ramp. Made sure I had enough left in the slip joint on the rear propshaft.
That old Safari LSD seems to be working great. It scuffs the tires on sharp low speed turns, and even feels like I am getting wind up on the rear (front propshaft not in yet). Cruised straight up my 500 high ramps in 2wd, which I could never do before, even though my articulation is rubbish at the moment, and my front sway bar is connected.

Now to find a fuel tank sorted. Got it running with a battery from my solar setup thats laying on the floor behind the passenger seat, so need to look at that. Route the exhaust around everything, as this 1 meter long exhaust is a bit loud with my old age catching up like this.

Then the plans start to cut that sump and get me some clearance to the front diff, maybe get to drop it by about 50mm or so, and get the coils and radias arm setup started. Then we gonna flex :woo: , I hope, lol.

Oh, I'm still looking for anybody that has an old 35x12.5x15 tyre or two laying around so I can check some clearances, and move axles if I need to. Don't want to cut the body. but bumpers are fair game.

Slight problem yesterday. One rear wheel started locking up at the slightest touch of the pedal. Got home to find brake fluid running out all over my rim. Stripped it down to find 40 years worth of sand in the slave cylinder. Cleaned it all up, and ran out of day light. Decided to rather strip the other side for good measure and clean it all out. Found it be clean in the slave cylinder, and all looks good. Cleaned everything up and put back together.

Off for a little test run now, but I'm starting to wonder if these massive drums and shoes are not going to be a problem on the Sani. Will they self adjust to the braking pressure needed. Will they pick that up automatically from the Sani. These brakes are much bigger than what the Sani had on. Although, I have the matched front calipers off the same vehicle in the front, but I don't know if that Safari had some brake proportioning setup on it that the Sani does not have.
I resurfaced the shoes and drums a bit, so may take a while to present itself. Lets see.

Test drive gives me locking rear left wheel as soon as it gets slight heat into it. That side seems to have a lot more wear on the shoes that the driver side.

Any experts on drum brake systems that can help with some advice please.

Next thing I can try, is swop the shoes, or drums between left and right and see where the problem goes to. See if I can figure if it's drum or shoes or slave cylinder.

I very much doubt one can swop between sides. The setups are usually "handed".

Not sure about the Safari, but on the Y60 and Y61 there is a brake proportioning valve bolted to the rear axle, with a spring link to the chassis. With a bit of careluf thought the linkage and mounting position can be revised to provide more or less braking, but that won't solve a left to right issue.

I would get the drums skimmed and the shoes re-lined as a starting point.
