As for the grass, yes I think this will definitely resolve something like that.

If I recall correctly I paid R 200 or R 250 for 15m of the tape ( +/- 60mm wide)

I have been trying to tell the PRADO owners -- only reason why the PRADO catches fire is that exozt crossing over to th eright side [on the V6 models] -- That is the reason i am looking for the 2-inch asbestos tape :thumbup:

Gentlemen, a cautionary note:

I once wrapped an exhaust manifold in this stuff. The manifold had seen several years of use, but was in good shape at the time.

Within two months after wrapping, the manifolds cracked apart completely.

I also found no difference in performance, fuel consumption or underbonnet temps in that particular car.

Because the tape holds the heat inside, the metal gets a lot hotter and as a result the manifolds expand and contract much more. I would not recommend doing this to a used manifold.

The company we buy from is auto solutions just google the no my friend that pays for it says it goes for about R60 per 10m roll...the banded strap and 2mm wire works well but the alu paint stops it from falling apart
I think that is the same stuff on that one in grahams garrage
I have heard of branches burning of on the welding due to excessive heat but those were on racing cars with turbo chargers

Afraid the only "Auto Solutions" on google is the car dealer in Midrand.

This is something that has been worrying me. Do you suggest ceramic coating rather? It's more expensive than a new manifold though.

I have no experience with ceramic coating, but suspect it could cause the same issues. I think David's idea of fitting the heat shield is the best if the manifold is old and you don't want to replace it.
