I have a problem and I need advice ! help ! direction !

I have a 2005 A Class Merc 180Cdi with 92000km on the clock which I bought from my BIL which he had since new. The engine management light came on two days after I took delivery and the computer said the glow plugs needs to be replaced, plugs 1 and 4 came out no problem but 2 & 3 is stuck like "k%k op n wol kombers ". After various attempts no luck, the head was then removed and send to the best auto engineering shop here in our area. They tried and said according to them they cannot get the glow plugs out. Now my next step is 1)to start looking for a secondhand head, 2) buy a new head ( which I cannot afford I think, haven't got a costing yet), 3) find a engineering shop that have preformed a similar operation .

Do anybody know any engineering shops that have been successful in removing stuck glow plugs from a merc diesel engine.

Shalom

You may want to try asking for input on Benzworld.org. MB make so many Diesel engines I would find it hard to believe that this problem is unique.

For what its worth, Spanjaard make a special penetrating oil that is superb. I had an issue on a steering column and nothing could unlock it. But the Spanjaard stuff did after spraying and soaking for a few days. You might even try submerging the whole head in paraffin and just leaving it there for a loooong time.

Maybe it'll work.

Mobile thread repairs removed them :blonde: , but it seems the engineering works created a small bit of damage to the injector hole, according to the mobile thread guy it might lose compression there.

Wat is jul seining moet mens die "head gasket seal" vervang ? of gebruik mens die ou een ?

Heli coil could work, I think.

Definitely a new head gasket, and new head bolts, as the old ones may have stretched due to age. If you are doing it .... do it right and that motor will last a long time
