The telescope is a patent waiting to get wipped by trees.
Got a wip instead since. Cheaper last longer, and easily replacable from Midas

I also stem saam...
Bought a short bee-sting antenna for Chuck that works perfectly. The antenna can be unscrewed from the base if you really want to rough it with those roller-type car washes. They're so cheap (around R50) that I bought a few of them - just in case I forget to screw it back on after visiting one of them scary car washes.

Re: Electric ariel
How difficult is it to replace the antenna? Do you have to remove the fender? Where / how do you plug it into the radio?

Re: Electric ariel
Its relatively easy. You need to remove the screws that hold the plastic wheel well cover in place, and the screws for the mud flap, then unbolt the (I think) 10mm bolt that holds the electronic box in place then loosen the nut ( outside on the fender ) holding the aerial to the fender, then unclip the wiring plug, and Bob's your aunty. REMEMBER to tape a piece of wire to the aerial cable going into the cab so when you pull the old cable out you tape on the new aerial cable and just gently pull it back into the cab to connect back into the radio.
Regards
Cedric
