Re: Wanted: Patrol Wheel Nuts
I just use a padlock. Keep it in place with cable ties so it does not flop around. Works well. An upmarket bicycle lock would also work well, I guess.SJC wrote:There is no lock nut on my spare wheel, will have to make a plan.
It does not look great, but since it's under the spare wheel cover I don't really worry.

Re: Wanted: Patrol Wheel Nuts
I see these wheel nuts can be purchased for 5.52 australian dollars each (About R59).
Here by us they are +/- R150 excl.
Which make me think that it might be cheaper to import them?
I think we are being smoked by nissan sa....

I think, after one has paid shipping and import costs, it's probably going to work out more-or-less the same... :(SJC wrote:I see these wheel nuts can be purchased for 5.52 australian dollars each (About R59).

Re: Wanted: Patrol Wheel Nuts
It would be interesting to know exactly how much import tax ect would be.
I know guys are bringing lokka lockers in paying about R4k for the locker and almost R2k import and courier fees..

Re: Wanted: Patrol Wheel Nuts
SARS tariff guides list the import tariffs for this at 10%. On top of this, there will also be VAT charged on the total (original value + 10%).SJC wrote:It would be interesting to know exactly how much import tax ect would be.

In other words, this would work out to R59 + R5.9 = R73.98 after clearing customs.
The issue is, however, the shipping costs. The last package I brought in from OZ (work related stuff) which would be more-or-less the same size and weight as a set of 6 wheel nuts, cost me about USD64 (over ZAR900 at the moment). Granted - that was using DHL - but I had no other option as the seller refused to ship via post office.
In short: the prices are good (even with excise duties included), but I think it's going to cost a lot more than agent prices to get the items here.

Re: Wanted: Patrol Wheel Nuts
Yip. However, the USD64 in courier fees I paid back when I last brought a package in from OZ was not over R900 at that time. It was still well under R700 at that time.SJC wrote:Our weak rand is also not helping...
But that was quite a while ago. And quite a long while before specific persons/organisations had stuffed up the exchange rate...

Re: Wanted: Patrol Wheel Nuts
For the record, just ordered myself ten wheel nuts (I have one stripped) from Melrose Nissan at R52.25 per nut.
