Dankie vir die een. She looks great. I would like the newer facelift shape because it's newer, but for some reason I prefer the rear lights of the pre facelift.

I'll see about giving Peter a tinkle when I'm back in town.

2005 Nissan Patrol 3.0TD GL for sale

Gents, I know I've indicated my desire for the 4.8 auto, but give me an honest opinion of the above Patrol. 221 000 Km, 2005 model 3.0 TD.

I'm not a big fan of diesel as it seems we pay the same price in the long run. Petrol I pay now, the diesel will klap me later, but I've heard good things about the 3.0 turbo diesel, as long as it was the model that didn't self destruct.

Hi Paul

the diesel specialists can advice better...

but to my knowledge that one definitely falls in to the time period where these engines (or some of them) tend to self destruct. Does it have a EGMS or Madman installed ?
If I would be interested in that specific vehicle I would want to have an additional budget of 40-50K (for an engine rebuild or swap) available in case the current engine blows up.

Happy Christmas

I also don't see myself as an expert, but am undert the impression the really big issues were fixed in 2003, but there were still lingering failures untill much later.

If you want a really reliable 3.0, you need to look at the CRD engine, which was only sporadically fitted from around 2011.

If an earlier car is fitted with a Madman or similar EGT monitor, then that is at least an indication that the previous owner understood the problems and one can probably buy such a vehicle with a relatively easy coscience.

A lot has been said by myself and others on this issue.
I had a 2004 which hand grenaded (pre face lift).
Some of the 2005 facelift models still grenaded, but I am not aware of any 2006+ models that has done so.
So there is still some risk there.

With regard to this particular model, it has been on the market for quite a long time and the price has dropped a lot too. So I will be cautious.

We found old Di 3.0's as late as 2013. Mine was 3.0CRD 2013. So seems 2013 was the year the CRD started comming into SA.

That one is a "project car"

I don't think its wort repairing.
The asking price + repair-cost (proper repair) will be much more than the trading value of the vehicle.
The whole front is F... incl. the frame.

I think this vehicle is only good as a donor vehicle...

Apparently he has got a potential buyer for 160k.
