The 2005 zd30 engine were still a bit dodgy.
I would be wary. If it had been driven with a madman for most ofnits life, then maybe. Else I would give this one a pass.
On price, not even the 4.8 grx autos of 2005 are that dear.

But on average for a 2005 3td around 130’ or 135’

2001 model for 99 K
Ensure the ECU is reset for South Africa [main reason why the pre- 2005 models "hand grenaded" .. it overfuelled coz it was set for Europe conditions

Then REPLACE the pistons with NEW ones [bought mine from ALERT Engine Spares] [they give 100,000km guarantee on the product]

Service the turbo at TURBOWORKS in Centurion and do freeflow 63 mm exhozt .. Good for 300,000 km and more if you take care of it
AVG of 9 km/liter

The one in East London wouldn't start when I went to check it out. Will pop back past there and try again. Not the greatest condition though.
Currently looking for a Y61 Patrol TD42.

With regards to the non starting, it could quite possibly be the fuel has seeped back and you need to prime it first using the lift pump on top of the diesel filter. It should not be too cold yet in East London for it to be glowplugs. If it still does not start take it as a warning and walk away. I agree, the price is absurd, I tried selling mine on the forum a year ago for R140k but no takers despite a few extras. I really like the 3.0 engine, particularly its fuel consumption, but it does have issues, the main one being that its unknown in most African countries and loses the will to live if the diesel is a bit suspect. My advice is to stick with trying find a 4.2 Diesel but cost in the after market turbo. Then there is always the petrol options. If money for fuel is not an consideration, that would be the route I would take after many years of travels in a V8 Range Rover. The only draw back, that I can see with petrol engines, is you need to carry a lot more fuel if you want to get to those out of the way places. When overlanding, fuel and Visas are the biggest cost. But whatever means you choose to power your Troll, it will get you there.
Have Troll, will travel.

I would run a mile.
245 000km on a motor that is notoriiously poor on reliability, sjoe.

The only 3,0 I would entertain is the CRD variant.

Furthermore, what point is there in checking if the ECU was retro- set to local conditions , when there can be no telling what damage was done prior to that action.

The whole story , start to finish, on the ZD30, is diabolical ,and one that Nissan, as well as Nissan SA should have owned up to and remedied through refunds, new motors or indefinite warranty.

Just my opinion... I'm sure there are plenty of happy ZD30 owners out there who'd disagree.
