Is my Partol FAT??

Postby hugejp » 15 Mar 2017 09:16

So...

Whilst at an industrial plant a week or so ago I was waiting for a safety officer & got chatting to the weighbridge operator at the check point & asked if it would be possible to roll my truck across the block.

No problem, so the sheet gets printed out & "tinkerbell" is apparently a healthy 2900kgs.

Now this was with nothing loaded in the vehicle & about 100L of juice.

Does she need to go on a diet??

I was also not in the vehicle & I am around 115kgs, so with a full tank, loaded for a trip & the rest of the family up, we must be pushing near 3500kgs

So this begs the question, if our lorries are on the "fat" side and we get stopped in a roadblock, can they nail us for driving with a normal car license when we should in fact be driving with a light duty truck license?

I would be VERY interested to know the weight of my car, with all its iron works.

We need to arrange a "weigh day" for forum members.

Good idea, but please don't be like the Community guys and do it through the assurance, that is like giving them a reason to dispute a future claim

I think the biggest problem you are facing is the GVM. I think on the Patrols it is around 3,400kg which is not hard to reach when fully loaded.

This is the least of your problems.

If your car is over the GVM printed on the disc, they will not allow you to carry on with yojr journey, and give you a fat fine to boot.

Best to avoid weighbridges at holiday time.
