Personally I would not. My kids are 6 and 8 and have done every trip with us and I chose to not bring them along on last years trip.
I think it will just be a little harsh on them

Very chilled kid!
I did this trip last year as well. The potential for things to go very wrong very quickly is too much to risk with a 1 yr old and you are long way and time from help. And this is from a guy that fitted a car seat to his boat and had his kids at sea before they could walk.

Ons gaan net nog moet dink oor die datums
Die huidige voorgestelde datum is net mooi een week na die duine trip. Ons mag dalk wil skuif na begin September of einde Oktober.
Maar laat weet asb wat werk vir julle
Sorry Alex but will have to scratch me out for this one.

There are only four confirmed for this trip.
We should ideally be at least five and not more then 10...

Besides the information provided on the first page, please note that you should consider strengthening your rear lower control arms (aka Trailing arms).

On the 2017 trip one Patrols's arm was slightly bent, but fortunately still able to drive home.
Subsequently I have snapped off my Shortie's one arm at Hennops (see picture below). Note, this is a non-drivable condition!.
Another Patrol's control arm was also bent at 3PRovinces in July this year.

This is therefore one of those Achillies heals in the Patrol
The kind of terrain on Baboons is also precisely where this kind of thing can happen quite easily.

I would therefore strongly advise to have your control arms strengthened before this trip.

Below is a thread on this.

If you would like to get this done, but is not inclined to do it yourself (like me), then watch this space. More info will come.

 Ek is vreeslik jammer dat Ek en my Pa moet onttrek. Ons het n groot Job gekry in die Transkei wat oor daardie tydperk gedoen moet word. Het sooo uitgesien, is tans besig om sterker arms te laat maak.

Baboons pas is op julle pad Transkei toe man! :rolling:
Net 'n kort detour.

Ons gaan dan nie genoeg mense wees nie.
Sal weer bietjie moet gaan dink hieroor.
