Alex I don't know the N17 that well but the next best point on Google maps seems to be where the N17 and R51 cross in Springs.

or R42 - Probably where the guys from Vereeniging will meet up with us.

I will try my Garmin maps this week to look for a garage in that area.

Miskien kan Mnr D Volschenk vir ons se watter een is die beste en maklikste om te gebruik om by sy broer uit te kom

We went through the joseph dal one on our swaziland weekend november 2015. The route to the border post is very scenic and quiet. The border post is also nice and quiet. But the road from the border post to the main road is very poor en time consuming. I would not recommend this post for people whom is running a bit late. :mytwocents:

Ricster I just spoke to David and he tells me that there are a few options and he thinks that Oshoek is still the better option but one should be at the border post about 14h00 and then slow drive due to access tar dumps(speed bumps)
to the site and have enough time to pitch camp before darkness
Myself i'm going N4 from Pretotia do a brunch at Alzu (150km) then to Oshoek via Carolina and Warburton (150km) then Gps to camp(don't have Gps co-ord yet)

That's my :mytwocents: :mytwocents: :mytwocents:

I have bad news. I'm not sure whether my kids' passports are going to be ready in time. DOHA appears to be relatively clueless at the moment. As such, I cannot confirm yet. We'll just have to hold thumbs, wait it out and see...

Going that way adds an extra 50Km on from south of JHB. So time wise it will probably land up the same with speed bumps.

Mine took less than 10 days for my son :surprised:
Tinus also a week....

The bloody unabridged certificate on the other hand is a bloody headache, and they don't seem to know themselves what is going on....
