Off Road Driving Qualification : January/February 2015

Good afternoon everybody

The Nissan Off-Road Club (NORC) in association with The Training Connection is arranging an Off-Road Driving Qualification course based on the TETA Unit Standard US254135 (Apply the techniques for operating four wheel drive (4WD) vehicles, in on-road and off-road conditions) during January and February 2015 on the following days:

Course Venues:

Knowledge Component Session (Theory):
Saturday 2015-02-28:

Cross Country Insurance Consultants Offices

Practical Evaluation Session:
Saturday 2015-03-21:

ADA Academy

Hartbeespoort Area



Candidates will receive comprehensive course material as well as administrative documents one week prior to the Knowledge Component Session (KCS). The course material is to be studied and the administrative documentation completed and brought with to the KCS.


Nature of the Course:

Comprehensive and interactive;

Course Requirements:

4x4 enabled vehicle;
Valid RSA recognized driver’s license;
Basic recovery kit:
Pair of gloves;
Set of rated bow shackles sufficient for vehicle mass;
Rated tow rope sufficient for vehicle mass;
Basic First Aid Kit;
Tyre Pressure Meter;
Fire Extinguisher;

Course Registration:

Candidates to register with the NORC via e-mail to admin@nissan-offroad.co.za by 2015-02-14;
Course fees to be deposited into the NORC bank account:

Reference: Name and Surname USTr
Proof of payment to be sent to NORC via e-mail - admin@nissan-offroad.co.za by 2015-02-14.

Course Content and Schedule:

One week prior to KCS:
Candidates receive course and registration material;
Knowledge Component Session:
Duration == 6 hour session;
Registration material verified;
Theory covered;
Lunch;
Knowledge verification (written test);
Handout of Knowledge Based Assignment.
One week after KCS:
Candidates complete and submit Knowledge Based Assignment to Assessor;
Assessor marks Knowledge verification (written test);
Practical Evaluation Session:
Duration == full day;
Evaluation of pre-trip vehicle and equipment readiness inspection;
Evaluation of practical driving of a vehicle in off road conditions;
Provide feedback on:
Knowledge verification (written test);
Knowledge Based Assignment;
Practical driving of a vehicle in off road conditions;
One week after Practical Evaluation Session:
Assessor submits candidate portfolio to TTC for moderation.

Course Outcomes:

Candidates found to be competent against US254135 will be issued with:
TETA Statement of Results;
Driver Competency Certificate;

Course Pricing Structure:

Paid up members of the NORC and clients of CCIC:
R850.00 for the full course;
Non-members:
R1, 100.00 including one year NORC membership.
