Re: Lesotho Trip - 15th- 17th June 2013
Thanks Peet. I might just take you up on your offer !!
Mark... hmmmm .... we might need a tanker for you mate.... ... just kidding. I'll check the Km to get a more accurate idea. BUT you have to ensure self sufficiency for at least 3 days. Last year when we went up there were many roads blocked by snow, so you have to be prepared. You need to have sufficient fuel to be able to idle your vehicle for 3 days, for warmth. You need to have sufficient food and a means to cook it for 3 days. Water, or one can use the snow, but a container that you can heat the water/snow in. When you are cold, ice cold water is the last thing you want. These things you probably will not need..... but you don't want to be stranded without them.
I will set up a list of things to take in a few days. You will enjoy this trip. There is no 4x4'ing, other than Sani Pass .... unless we get stuck in snow... just some awesome scenery, and some great family time.

Rough idea
All depends on the availability of accommodation and the road conditions.
Fuel - Around 3 to 4 tanks of fuel with some spare (diesel Patrol gets 850 km ON 130 LT tank)
Accommodation R 2000 budget (what’s available)
Jagermister - 2 X R190
Meals ?????
V8 Power

Plus I need to get camping goodies!
I'll wait for the next one - maybe then I'll have a SWAMBO to bring alone
