Newby Patrol Owner - Things to look out for

Hi Everyone

After trying out a platkar for 6 months now that I am a family man with responsibility, I could take it no longer, and have found a well looked after 2005 Patrol 4.8 GL with low mileage (115,000km). It was owned by a pedantic old man who looked after it very well. Hence my joining this forum to learn more about my new Patrol.

The Patrol has had its 120,000km service (as well as all previous services) done with Nissan, and I will have the diff and gearbox oil changed by the end of the week. Tyres and suspension are in good condition, and I hear or feel nothing strange when driving it on the road.

Not knowing anything about typical quirks with Patrols that are 11 years old and similar mileage, would you be able to give me some advice as to which parts/areas of the vehicle could typically give me issues, assuming normal on and offroad use over the last 115,000km?

Let me think... It is a GL.... a 4.8....low milage ..... serviced.... nope I can't think of anything

Only thing I would look out for is play on the front wheel bearings and maybe a stuck difflock solenoid due to lack of use which are all easy to fix.

Welcome to the forum

Julle manne is baie gaaf en vriendelik.

Thank you for all the replies. Think I can get along well with guys like you :woo:

I am collecting the Patrol on Saturday, so I still only have sales pics. Let me know what you think.

The dashboard has been replaced and is brand new. The interior is very clean. Seats look brand new, especially the front ones under those awful sheepskin covers. Will be getting rid of those on Saturday.

The roofrack is not on the vehicle in the pictures, but getting that on Saturday. Hope it will fit into my garage :surprised:

ricster, I am very close to Chrissie Street, but no, I will be bringing the golden one home only on Saturday.

For some reason there is this polarisation of Patrols (or otherwise active forum members) in Alberton and Centurion.

What is it about the Force awakens in 4x4's?

and who will bring balance to this force?

Welkom Dirk!

Welcome Dirk.

Just the diff-lock solenoid already mentioned by David comes to mind.

Good looking car, congratulations.
