Very ugly,

I bet that happens quite often with those guys. I mean its an organized event and they had no idea what they were doing.

I see one comment about it not being the strap that snapped but instead the recovery point. Snatching at that angle though is dodge

I went on a "Family Day" that was hosted by a 4x4 shop that won't be mentioned back in 2010.

These bunch of tonsils had a tug of war with vehicles.
They were out to win a Darwin award, because they didn't have a strap long enough, so they joined 2 straps with an unrated D-shackle (and a small one to crown the lot).
I flat out refused to be involved in any way, much to their disgust.
I cleared the area because I knew what was coming and it wasn't even 30 seconds later the shackle broke under load and a piece narrowly missed someone's wife and continued through the Land Cruiser behind her.

Idiots...they walk among us !

Yip... Its like the "hi ho, hi ho, its off to work I go" Isuzu advert on TV. You see them trying to pull a tractor out by throwing a tow strap over the tow ball...... At least its a tow strap and not a kinetic strap, but still... They should know better than to advertise something that can be extremely dangerous !!

Hi Dustin

At that 4x4 event you say you refused to be involved. Did you try explaining the dangers to them and they didn't care to listen?
