Hi Guys - I am taking 10 days and heading off to Bots in June!
I have not been there for about 20 years and don't know what best routes and camps to use.
Does anyone with more recent experience have any suggestions on a good route and trip schedule??

Thinking of getting up to Maun as quick as possible and then take best route from there to cover remaining days... wilder the better!

So do you want to camp inside the Chobe or in community camps on the fringes of the reserve?
On Community4x4 under Bots there is quit good and up to date information...
For my trip in Aug/Sep I booked everything through Tara was just easier for me than to try and do bookings individually.

Chris, you have perhaps left it rather late. Bots is quite busy nowadays.
Perhaps look at CKGR if you don't have your heart set on the delta?

What type of info are you looking for? Bookings are done through Bots DWNP. Nicest area is Deception Pan (there are a number of camps in this area). Entry is through a gate opposite Rakops, although i understand there is also a gate in the north-west, i have never found it on a map.
Camps have long-drops and bucket-shower enclosures, but no water (except Xade which has hot ablutions but almost no game). T4A warns of heavy sand from Rakops to that gate, but i didn't find any. Conversely, the road into Xade gate (close to Ghanzi) is the heaviest i have encountered anywhere.
No fuel or shops in this park. Rakops has a filling station but it is often dry, so make provision for a detout to Mopipi.
Anything else?
