There are a few threads on this doing the rounds on the Community forum

I can understand why this requirement is being introduced though.
The unabridged certificate indicates the maiden name of both parents.
This way a divorced husband cannot steal a child without the consent of the mother (and vice versa)

Re: Unabridged certificates
Just checked yesterday with Dept Home Affairs - they confirm the delay to June 2015.
Be prepared to wait though, we applied for two, one came back in about 9 weeks, the other requires an investigation as they cannot find what they need, something to do with the system whoopsie they had that messed up all the info for children born around 2000.

Re: Unabridged certificates
Thanx, we have already aplied 5 weeks ago. But I was scared that it may result in us not being able to go in december deu to the delays. I've paid just over 11K on accomodation in April. And must now finalise with a futher 8K. Its a lot of money to loose.
I understand the reason behind it. But the initial time frame was a bit tight. Especially if you take the possible delays and complications.
Atvleast I can sigh acsighnof releave
