Mini: To Moz and Back

Post by JohnBoyZA »

Hi Julle

Had an outstanding trip to Moz et al. Herewith a few notes:

Where: Lowveld (Swadini/Kampersrus), Kruger (Bateleur, Letaba, Skukuza), Mozambique (Chidenguela, Barra-BayView, Bilene-Villa n Banga)
Routing: CT-Inhambane (see attached map)
When: 17 December 2009 – 13 January 2010
Who: 5 Families – various overlap
Vehicles: Patrol, Cruiser 80, Cruiser 100, Pajero, Colt
Distance: 6600km
Consumption: 4.5km/l (Patrol 4.8 towing Jurgens XT120)
Highlights:
• Moz from Jan 2-10 = ‘out of season’ = pleasantly surprised;
• BayView Lodge as always!
• Villa n Banga – great hosts: Lee and Anton!
• Warm sea (29-30C);
• Pansy Island;
• New favourite pub = Farol da Barra;
• Friendly locals + safe;
• Prawns;
• Friends - It was nice to expose some of my urbanite friends to the Moz charm – they are already planning their next trip;
• 5 vehicles - never stopped once;
• Price of petrol – in places we paid R7.21/l
• DosM beer.
Lowlights:
• Previous visit in Dec 2007 the roads were bad, NOW they’re hectic – BUT they’re working on it;
• 47C in the shade at Swadini;
• Chidenguela.

Great trip jammer ons het mekaar in Moz gemis, my goedkoopste Petrol in Maputo R5,62, ek het voor ek Moz toe is met een van my vriende Meticash geruil R1=M4

Brandstof verbruik wasverbasend goed gemiddeld 6.1km/L moet die olie veranderings wees wat ek gedoen het voor die trip. Beste verbruik was 7.8km/l ( 100-110km/h ) en die swaaartste was 5.5km/l ( ry teen 130km/h erg swaar gelaai aircon aan )

Sal nog n paar fototjies plaas

Groete
Jules
