Morning Henning

My opinion is that the normal location of the spare wheel on the back door is the only flaw in the Patrol setup. I am using one bigger tyre size and I have seen that when driving with that big tyre on the back door - even on tar roads - the cabin lights now and then flashes due to the back door shaking under the weight of the tyre with the door.

A friend of mine's Patrol rear door cracked with the normal size wheel on it, so that is why I have removed it from my back door.
Morning George

..... that is what I thought.

mine does the same on bad corrugations.

What happens is that the RH Barn door unlocks... the door appears still closed as it is still locked at the top + in the middle but its unlocked at the bottom.

This triggers the Ajar switch on the bottom left to show the open signal on your dashboard.
Readjusting the strikers to create more tension on the barn door assembly helps sometimes. :salute:

Yip, I did the same to mine. I pulled the catch in a little and now get a much better closing action and grip. The switch is a pain in the donkey, so I put a small square piece of high density foam to press the plunger in a few extra mm to prevent the flickering interior disco light.

Awesome trip and pics!!

Impressive fuel consumption and I think it helps allot when others want to plan the same trip to sort of estimate how much fuel to take along.

Hallo Jorrie/Ian

Ek het 10 Jerry's saamgery so in total so naastenby 335 liter en ja, dit het ons deurgeneem Walvis toe - ek het 106.95 liter in Walvis ingegooi so ek het nog so 29 liter in die tenk gehad na die woestyn ryery.

Hi Michael

I was also satisfied with the consumption on tar - obviously it was a different story while in the dunes - more about this later in my report.

Bit off topic, but is there a thread or youtube video somewhere on how to do this?

Thank you for the report George!! This is also on my bucket list....

Focus is obviously on the Patrol's but would like to hear how the 2.5 Navara handled the dunes... being close to my 2.5 Pathy...

Looking forward to more photo's and to hear (read) the whole story.
