Madlabantu 4x4 Adventure Trail KNP
Hi Guys,
I had the privilege of visiting the Kruger recently and decided to drive the 4x4 trail at Pretoriuskop. It was something that I wanted to do since forever and this time we just went ahead and did it. so I thought I'd share my experience with you.
it is a bit pricey. R570 for the trail plus a R100 deposit, just to make sure you report on your return. The trail is 42km's long. and they only allow you to start before 11h00. They give an estimated drive time of 6 hours. The Trail is not a hardcore 4x4 track. it is mostly jeep tracks with a few low water drifts that has got some cross axle action due to water corrosion. It is very over grown and the new bullbar and PC skid plate had to already work and proof their worth when I had to make a path by pushing over some young mopani trees. so if you are sensitive when it it comes to scratching your car I would recommend you give it a miss. They say its weather sensitive and I could see why. the low water crossings could become a mud pool which might catch you. you are allowed to get out of your car but must remain within 7m of it. you must also leave your doors open. you are not allowed to walk the water crossings. they say the trail is clearly marked but its not. I did find it on tracks 4 Africa and that helped me allot. all and all it was a nice experience tho, and I am glad I did it, the trail is very quiet with nice scenery and you also get to see parts of the park that not many can. I will post some pics on the trail and what we saw.

Plesier kerels
Chris,
No, you self drive on your own at your own pace. you just need to be back when the camp gate closes as normal. and report back at reception. other wise they will come and look for you. they have a recovery service if needed.
