Anyone got some advice on what is best electric cable to use for re-wiring my winch.
I am upgrading the motor on my warn M8000 (which smoked on me) with a new 6hp motor as used on the 9.5xp winch, which I sourced on Amazon for half the local price. The stronger motor fits perfectly apparently turns the M8000 into a serious winch. It pulls a few more amps though.
Current wiring is a bit tired and has some corrosion, so I am considering redoing it.
I was thinking of trying to find some 70sqmm cable cable with capacity up to 600amps with some good connectors fitted.
I think it is a good ideato fit a cut-out switch (as found at the motor racing shops) in the engine bay. This firstly forces you to open the bonnet, but also apparently protects the solenoid in water crossings?

I am fitting the XP's 6hp motor to my M8000.
The M8000 has a larger gear ratio than the xp (216 vs 156) - this means my new spec winch (M8000 with xp motor) will be slightly slower than the xp, but more power and possibly slightly less amps than the std xp (if my logic is correct).
Anyway - I believe it turns the M8000 into a monster winch, for the price of new motor! according to some posts I read on the internet. This should mean that I do not have to use a snatch block in future, when pulling boat onto trailer.

Yes, the basic dimensions etc are same for M8000 and XP. If I look at the parts lists on Warn website all the winches <10000lb are pretty much the same with only different motor specs and gear ratios (I wonder why such big price differences then )
I also have a 10mm synthetic rope on the winch that can pull up to 18000lb
