I support the LED LENSER idea.

I have had my share of flashlights over the years.

Currently 5 led lensers, my kids one each so 7 in total and one maglite. I have had 2 with problems, Awesome Tools replaced both free of charge no questions asked.

Do not underestimate the maglite.

Many years ago I caught a poacher at night. A serious fight was ended very quickly with a 4 cell maglite, something a ledlenser cannot do.
Wat ek is, is net genade.
Wat ek het is net geleen.

When I was still a student, I worked part-time in a gunshop.

One regular customer was a cop who would come and get a new lens and sometimes a new bulb for his Maglite.

He used to bring down running perpetrators by chucking his 4-cell Maglite at the backs of their knees, and that's all that ever broke.
But they are big and heavy and not terribly efficient by modern standards.
Mag ons ons kenniskry met lekkerkry aanhoukry.

I Agree on the Maglite being a robust and proven torch, my stolen 3-cell also took down a couple of things and never missed a beat other than flat batteries! But technology over took Maglite on the LED side even with the replacement LED bulb and that is where the LEDlenser is way ahead at this stage.

Maglite always good and great support, but have had my Fenix RC40 for 5 years, never a problem and SO impressive (6000 lumens), is a heavy, but for that reason a fab defensive weapon.

A friend of mine bought something similar (the R3, 400.00 model) some time ago - a "meneer" of a wide angle torch, buy yes, also at a "meneer" of a price....
